Race 2 Reduce: Off and Running!

Race 2 Reduce: Off and Running!

By Paul Steinhauser

Race 2 Reduce, the White Bear Lake area’s premier water conservation program, is pleased to announce that Sarah Alexander has been hired to be its new project coordinator.  Sarah formerly served as a community organizer with R2R’s parent organization, H2O for Life. In her new position, Sarah will lead and coordinate the educational components of Race 2 Reduce in collaboration with White Bear Lake Area Schools and Mahtomedi School District.  Her new position is supported in part by the 2015 legislative grant award received by H2O for Life and other funding support. She started her position on October 1.

In July R2R received a $5,000 grant from the White Bear Lake Level Resolution Committee that will fund a pilot test measuring the reduction of residential water use through replacing the inner workings of high volume toilets with ultra low dual flush technology.  By the end of April 2016 we should have real numbers with which to evaluate the value in greatly expanding this process.  The final report will be distributed to all communities within the White Bear Lake basin as well as to the Met council and the Minnesota DNR.
