The Zephyr Wind Turbine is symbol of the Mahtomedi area’s commitment to bring lifelong educational experiences to our community and a brighter clean energy future to our world. The 10kW Bergey Excel turbine, donated to Mahtomedi Schools by school district residents, began operation in September 2011. It generates approximately 14,000 kWH per year, along with renewable energy lessons for students and the community.
The Zephyr Wind Project was made possible in part by a grant from the U.S. Department of Energy and the Minnesota Department of Commerce through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). THANK YOU to the hundreds of community members and others who donated time, talent, and funds to help make this project possible.
