Turbine Construction Underway

ZEPHYR WIND TURBINE CONSTRUCTION UNDERWAY!
Construction began May 12 on the Zephyr Wind Turbine. Check back for new photos as the project progresses!

Building trades professionals began the construction phase of the Zephyr Wind Project May 12, led by Devin Hall and Steve Seidl. Iron workers Local 512 workers tied rebar for the concrete foundation Thursday.
On Friday, workers drilled a 23-foot deep hole, lowered in the rebar cage,  and poured the concrete, which was donated by Cemstone. Cement Masons Local 633 provided the finishing touches on the concrete. Gephart Electric was on onsite and provided the electrical rough-in for the tower. The next step is to wait a week or so for the concrete to cure, then erect the tower and turbine.
A huge THANK YOU! to these workers, and to all who have contributed to transforming the Zephyr Wind Project dream into a dream come true: A 10 kW educational wind turbine that will generate electricity and provide today’s students – tomorrow’s science and technology leaders – with a firsthand opportunity to learn about renewable energy.
