BY JEFF LEDERMANNThe Mahtomedi Area Green Initiative was chosen as the winner in the sustainable communities category Thursday evening at the Environmental Initiative Awards ceremony. Known as “Minnesota’s Enviro Oscars,” the ceremony honors top environmental projects in six categories: business and environment, energy and climate protection, environmental education, natural resource protection and restoration, sustainable communities, and partnership of year. Some 400 environmental leaders from around Minnesota attended the event.

Ten MAGI steering committee members were able to attend and accept the award. It was also a great opportunity for the Minnesota environmental leaders present to learn about all the great things happening in our community and to be inspired to share their talents and expertise to boost sustainability in their own communities.

These awards are specifically designed to recognize partnerships, and our accomplishments wouldn’t have been possible without the support and participation of all our many partners and supporters throughout the Mahtomedi Area and beyond. Thank you so much! We look forward to achieving many more outcomes as we continue to work together towards a more healthy and sustainable community.
